Much has been made of recent comments made by U.S. House of Representatives Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) who stated that Democrats seem to be more worried about the rights of terrorists than the safety of Americans.  The left has had to reach for oxygen masks ever since, and pundit after pundit, even some on the right have been quick to condemn Boehner's comments.  Those on the right, however, have heard these comments often and have probably made them from time to time.  Lately, it seems natural to wonder why the left has become so protective of those we are fighting in this war on terror because of their recent statements and actions.

This topic has led to many explanations of the left's sympathy for our enemy.  One most often heard is that they will stop at nothing to embarrass and defeat President Bush.  No doubt there is an element of truth in that to one degree or another.  Another explanation that is not as popular, but one that seems, upon analysis, to have weight is that the American Left and Islamic Fascists have much in common.  As inflammatory as that may sound, upon inspection it seems true.

The Left has often been aligned in a collection of counter purposed activists, such as labor and environmentalists, abortion rights activists and black preachers, and other alliances that on the surface make no sense.  Why do they align? Because of characteristics that lie beneath the surface.  And when revealed, it will be obvious that the Left as a whole has characteristics shared by Islamic Fascists.

What are these common Characteristics? Here is a short list:

Both are easily offended.  One of the most commonly used terms used by both sides is Tolerance.  The Left and our enemy demand it from us.  When we do not tolerate their intolerance, we are attacked with the standard vernacular of bigot, homophobe, infidel, etc.  For the Left, one such example is that we should be tolerant by allowing gays to marry (even tho a gay man has as much right to marry a woman as any other male has).  For our enemy, any reference to their "religion" that does not meet their standard will result in mass protests, Christian churches burned, murders and more. We have seen this recently with the Pope's comments and prior to that with cartoon representations of Mohammad.

The latter characteristic leads to the next, the incessant need to constantly protest.  This one is particularly annoying as everyone has something that is bothersome.  But for some, it seems an uncontrollable desire to grab a book of matches and an American flag and run to the door.  Maybe both the left and our enemy have a protest "Ready Kit" by the door?  If so, it clearly consists of the materials necessary to burn flags and effigies of presidents.

Another common characteristic is the practice of declaring their opponents of having flaws they themselves possess.  There are many examples of this one from the Left, and they have become particularly efficient at it.  While it certainly is not a new occurrence in politics, Bill Clinton perfected it with instances such as accusing Republicans of being "Purveyors of the Politics of Personal Destruction."  More pathetically and certainly not as effective is the current attempt by the Left to say that Republicans are not properly fighting the war on terror.  The war has been their biggest weakness and trying to turn it around has so far proved fruitless.  The best example of this characteristic by the Islamic Fascists is their claim that all who do not follow their call for a Jihad are uncivilized infidels.  This coming from "Uncivilized infidels."  No elaboration on this point is necessary.

Finally, the characteristic of Cloaking motives in bogus causes joins these two at the hip.  The Left has pushed environmentalism on us for years, and while some at the bottom of the cause plod along as if their efforts were purposeful, those at the top are motivated exclusively by the goal of government control over as much of society as can be achieved.  This practice is otherwise known as Socialism by Environmentalism and it has proved quite effective.  For the Islamic Fascists, Jihad is about cleansing their religion and region of forces that threaten to render Islam impure.  This has been the story accepted by the world and only until recently has it been countered with facts that prove otherwise.  The internet has opened a window into a world where the Jihadists freely tell their own in public what their true purpose is, which is a worldwide "conversion" to their form of Islam by the point of an AK-47 rifle barrel.

Was John Boehner correct in his comments about the Democrats?  It seems so, but it appears he was gentle in his criticism.  The truth is just far too harsh for a publicly elected official to state, but it must be stated.
